the good, the bad and the back-up plan

Life has it moments, right!?  On our way down to Austria we decided to bite the bullet and do the 8 hour car trip in one day. The good : the first 6 hours were pretty smooth. The bad:  the last 2 were really hard. All the kids were really fussy and after a while you find you are becoming fussy too, but instead of crying like the girls were doing I may or may not have had my head in my pillow wondering when this car trip would ever end! :)

Have we mentioned a few times now that we have been potty training?!  Well, by the Austria trip Isaac was potty trained and what made the last couple of hours so difficult is that he kept having to go potty and when he says he has to go he means NOW!  So the picture above is us pulled to the side of the highway (which we hate doing because they drive REALLY fast in Germany and you never know what could happen!) but it is totally acceptable to pull over like this to have to go to the bathroom.  We had Isaac's portable Elmo toilet with us but this picture shows how Isaac felt about going in it on the side of the road in 30 degree weather and snowing...see the snow in his hair?

Sometimes in life you have to look for a backup plan.  We came up with one...Elmo potty on the passenger seat!  The joys of traveling! :)  Yes, Isaac is going to love this picture when he is older, right?!
