Adventures in Babysitting - Day 1 (7 Oct)

Greetings from the Netherlands...and from a slightly different Shafer crew!!!  Grandma Shafer & Uncle Jon here...Jon at the narration helm for the next week.  Marc & Kelly are celebrating their 10 year anniversary cruising the Greek isles.  Congratulations to you and your wonderful family.

So, my Mom & I jumped at the chance to watch over their precious cargo - THE Crew.  To say I'm a fan of The Crew is the greatest of understatements!  We'll be documenting this awesome adventure over the next week with you.  And here they are, in all their glory...

Grandma got here a few days ahead of my arrival and she was able to pick right back up with the kiddos from her last visit.  Marc & Kelly have raised the kids so wonderfully well and they are such a blessing to enjoy.

I also had to send some advance supplies to the front...pistachios have become The Crew's nut of choice!

Day 1 was a rocky logistical start for me, but when The Crew picked me up from the Valkenburg train station, it was all over but the laughing.  And all the fun presents I have been gathering the last several months just had to start coming out.  First things first, some new decorations for their favorite feet attire...Crocs!  If you know Isaac, it's all about Cars' Lightning McQueen and Thomas Train.  And the Twix are into all things girly, shiny, glittery and Hello Kitty.

So, I work for a pistachio and almond grower these days.  Marc has been telling me how the iMan likes to bring 3 bowls over to him to eat pistachios...one for the nuts in the shell, one for the shells, and then one for the shelled pistachios.  Well, I brought some special little trays from work for each of the kiddos with 3 little compartments to organize their pistachio dining.  Needless to say, it was a big hit!  And that little Bella is an expert at cracking those pistachio shells...you should see those little fingers.

Day 1 ended with a bang and with all things normal to The Crew's routine...pajamas, brushing their teeth and a prayer.  Except the iMan had a guest tooth brusher to accompany him...

AMEN!
